Snake Light » Sat, Jul 15th 2006 11:18 pm

When I was younger, I used to collect flashlights. Seriously. People actually gave me flashlights for my birthday or for Christmas. I got a small snake light once and thought it was the coolest thing. Then it broke. Or I lost it. I don’t really know what happened to it, really. Anyway, moving on: I had the idea to buy my dad a giant snake light for Father’s Day (I think), to use in his workshop. Now it’s old and being held together by electrical tape, but I figure that just proves it was a good gift idea.

Now that you know its story, you may look at the photo. smiling face

That’s the first time I’ve ever heard of someone collecting flashlights. Why flashlights?

I think it started when I was in the 2nd or 3rd grade. I used to like wandering around the backyard in the dark and having a good flashlight made it more fun, somehow.

I become sort of a flashlight connoisseur, I guess you could say. I’d discriminate between “good” and “bad” flashlights by judging their brightness, weight, sturdiness, and the evenness of the light it projected. I was quite the loser. Ha.

I can still appreciate a good flashlight to this day, but I’m less likely to go out and buy it in all its different sizes and colours.

Ha-ha, were we not all losers in the third grade? I remember playing pogs and marbles right after class all of the time.

Ha! Pogs, what ever happened to that fad?

I actually managed to avoid getting sucked into Pogs. I wasn’t so lucky with marbles, though… A yo-yos. The yo-yo thing was probably the most rewarding though, as now I can do all sorts of neat tricks with one. Marbles just fueled my hatred for competitive activities.
