They Grow Up So Fast » Tue, Jun 12th 2007 7:59 pm
This is what I found on the front deck the other day; an actual PILE of baby spiders.
I don’t know how large these guys will get, but my arachnophobic mind was envisioning a couple dozen of these guys attacking and devouring a small horse. Still, rather than grabbing the RAID and sending these mofos straight back to Hell, I grabbed my camera and propped my lens about an inch away from the writhing mass.
I never did get around to killing them, either. Uh oh.

Well Aaron, these are your common “Garden Spider” you can tell from the distinctive yellow abdomen and black legs. Common full grown size for these are about an 2-3 cm leg span. They are actually heavily favored by arachnid photographers because they produce one of the most articulate webs.

Not really. But one day, I’m sure. I’ll write back when I’ve a clever name for THAT show…

Are you fuckin’ kidding me? Umm, apparently, says Wikipedia… female “Yellow Garden Spider’s” can grow to be an ‘impressive’ (wtf?) 75mm in diameter, including their legs. They’re freakish bodies can be 40mm long! shudders

I was just stating common as the ones I remember catching when I was a kid, I guess there are freaks and giants in every species.
