No Respect from Canada » Wed, Aug 16th 2006 11:08 am

I was referred to LoveFilm.com by a link on my brother’s site www.thewolfshack.com. I noticed they had a whole section devoted to free “shorts” that could be downloaded and enjoyed, seemingly by all. So I read through the list of available shorts on the first page and clicked on the one I’d chosen to watch, to my dismay:

We are sorry, but there are no downloads available for Canada. (If your country has been incorrectly identified or you believe you should be able to download this title, please contact our customer service to try and correct the information.)

Yeah, I’m sorry too. Sorry that you haven’t quite grasped the concept of the World Wide Web. If you aren’t going to let me download from your site, then don’t tease me with the notion that I can, right up until I’ve wasted ten minutes on your site under the false assumption that I could. Bastards!

I agree… Canada gets no love. I get the chills whenever I see (in fine print of course) "Offer valid for US citizens only."

It’s a UK site, so apparently nobody gets love except them. I tried connecting through a US proxy and still got denied straight face

I’m in the UK, but I get no love either:
"We are sorry but we currently require Windows XP and Windows Media Player 10."
    sad face

Feel free to leave some kind of feedback or pose a question. Most links will be parsed on their own, so you can avoid writing <a> tags. I’ve even taken measures to ensure that long links don’t fubar the page layout. Also, you can get fancy with Markdown syntax if you want.

The e-mail address is required to ID you. I’ll keep it secret. I pinky promise.
